Robinson for Ohio 2012
Dear Friends,
During last year’s campaign I said the stakes were high—couldn’t be higher. I was wrong. They’re higher in 2012.
Here in Ohio, retaking the House is of the highest priority as the only immediate means, other than referendum, of constraining John Kasich’s extremist agenda. To win back the House we must pick up ten seats—and to pick up ten seats we must win the 21st district. For these reasons, for the good of Ohio, I ask you to join our campaign today.
Last year we were just 377 votes shy of winning in the worst electoral cycle for Democrats in decades. The coming year will be different given that our opponent, Mike Duffey, has firmly hitched his wagon to Kasich’s horse.
For eleven months now Governor Kasich, Mike Duffey, and their fellow Republicans in the legislature have been pushing an extreme, elitist agenda that has defunded public schools; attacked workers’ rights, women’s rights, and our environment; and has even sought to suppress the most sacred of American freedoms: the right to vote. And they’ve done all this while failing in their primary duty of creating jobs and improving our economy.
Their approach to creating jobs is born from Kasich’s years on Wall Street, and reflects a top-down, venture capitalist mentality. We, on the other hand, know that it is from all of us, working together, that our individual talents flourish and our shared prosperity arises.
We now face a basic choice, between two philosophies of government, two ideas about people: top-down and elitist, or from the ground up and democratic. One banking on the bankers, one investing in the people. I choose the latter, and I hope you do too.
Please bear in mind that we face a primary challenge with early voting beginning January 31st (Primary Election Day is March 6th). We need to hit the ground running the first of the year, so please join us today.
As I said, the stakes can’t be higher.
